General Description

Ours is a Block having multi-racial, multilingual diversified socio-economic structure since the inception of its history of inhabitation. The Block administrative jurisdiction comprises of ten numbers of gram-panchayets named (Barasat, Khisma, Kalinarayanpur Paharpur,Ramnagar_I,Ramnagar-II,Habibpur,Tarapur, Nawpara Masunda, Anulia, Payradanga). In accordance with electoral segmentation the very jurisdiction that is 13 Ranaghat parliamentary Constituency consists of 87 Ranaghat Uttar-Paschim Assembly constituency (Polling Station No: 73 to 284) and 90 Ranaghat Dakshin Assembly Constituency (Polling Station No: 01 to 104).
This area experienced the huge surge of refugee infiltration during the very incidents of partition of Bengal in 1947 and Bangladesh liberation war in 1972. This played havoc to the political and economic fabric of the area.
Gone are those days, now this zone has gradually become economically vibrant by dint of communication facilities and endeavor of peace loving and democratic people of this area.
Here an honest endeavor has been made to express a precise description of demographic social and political portrait of the Block.
The administrative measures in relation with public service have been depicted here so far possible flawlessly.

National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM)

NRLM is a poverty alleviation project implemented by Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India. This scheme is focused on promoting self-employment and organization of rural poor. The basic idea behind this programme is to organize the poor into SHG (Self Help Groups) groups and make them capable for self-employment.

Relief & Disastermanagment

In the event of any sort of disaster whether man made or natural the victims are provided with relief either in cash or kind Viz :The different schemes as provided in the Block as per GO are Ex  Gratia Grant, E.R Grant, HB Grant etc. Throughout the year relief & assistance are given to the people suffering from starvation.


Under this Scheme every educational institution (Government, Government aided, Private who opted) have been provided with Cash & food grains for the Students of Pry & appear Pry. Section.

Issuance of certificate :

Residential, Income & NOC for dangerous trade have been issued from this end.

Electoral works:

Beside Conducting General Election in different tires – Inclusion, Correction, Deletion & Photo taking for EPIC etc. have been performed in this end as directed by ECI or State Govt.
